In February Mr. Brown was appointed as manager of the van Stadens Wild Flower reserve.
As it fell under parks department the well known Mrs. Gwen Skinner got involved and did a lot of work for the reserve.
This led to it that a house was built for the manager in 1961 .
The reserve is opened to the public.
The forest section was added to the reserve.
Gwen Skinner received Widdringtonia cedarbergensis seeds in 1963 from the Algeria forestery station. These she grew and planted them along the entrance path of the Arboretum.
